Series Description

Machinery, Communications Devices, Information Technology, Measuring Equipment and Medical Device for the commercial market must comply with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) requirements. International standards from FCC rules in the US to various IEC/EN are specified for emission and immunity testing to verify EMC compliance. In addition, many Military and Aerospace Systems have been added to the list of included equipment for CE Marking—MIL-STD-461 is not sufficient for products to be circulated in the EU.

The series will present details on test and evaluation methods for the more common tests required for international approval. The discussion will address test equipment requirements, test configuration control, measurements, performance criteria and data presentation. This series offers critical information for EMC compliance professionals, testing industry professionals, and developers involved with electronics systems development.

This multi-part series provides detailed focus on performing the testing, data reduction and understanding and managing test problems.

Although the standard provides the basis, this course delves into what and why along with the how. Understanding the evaluation process brings forth items that the designers must consider.

The Presenter

Steven D. Koster, Vice President, Washington Laboratories, Ltd – Steve has over 30 years of experience in testing systems and devices for regulatory compliance. His expertise spans a full range of product evaluations from IT, Medical, Machinery, Measuring and Communications (including Wireless). He heads the Washington Laboratory team accomplishing all manner of product compliance evaluations.

In addition to his own insight, he will bring guest presenters into the webinar series to add subject matter insight directly from day-to-day test execution. The guests will supplement the presentation with real life approaches to over-coming obstacles in evaluating a variety of devices.
